Senior Cost Accountant


The Senior Cost Accountant supports the efforts of the Plant Controller through the preparation and distribution of financial data to key plant team members.
Primary Duties:
Completes annual and periodic costing responsibilities and analysis of COGS (Cost of Goods Sold)
Formulates comprehensive product costing analyses.
Analyzes period costs, identifies discrepancies and completes investigations to determine variances and unabsorbed costs.
Completes PPV (Purchase Price Variances) analyses and highlights significant changes.
Evaluates process order variances and supplies clarity on issues and concerns.
Ensures accuracy of standards in comparison to actual costs.
Confirms accurate structure setup for cost centers, distribution logic, allocation keys, etc.
Provides support for audit requests.
Monitor and prepare reports on inventory control.
Ensures controls are functioning properly and inventory balances (internal and external) are correctly indicated for the site, including supervision of the cycle count process.
Examines inventory movements.
Evaluates slowing moving and obsolete stock.
Examines and analyses write-offs and discarded materials/product and indicates categories of write-off transactions for the plant.
Reinforces inventory forecast and CDI calculations.
Prepares reports required to monitor the efficiency and performance of the plant, including monthly Key Performance Indicators, Cost Center Reports, etc.
Complete requirements associated with monthly financial close and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
Analyzes gross profits for the plant and investigates variances.
Correctly post accruals by reviewing operations cost centers and accounts.
Assist Corporate Financial Services in resolving issues.
Organizes periodic inventory of fixed assets for the plant.
Provides data and reports to the Plant Controller to support the development of business plans, forecasts and annual budget.
Required Background:
BS in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
3-6 years of cost accounting in a manufacturing facility.
Solid Enterprise Accounting System experience required, SAP preferred.
Strong PC skills including advanced excel.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
