The Times Herald-Record is seeking a seasoned reporter dedicated to community sports news who can give readers more than the score.The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to multi-task, performing a variety of jobs from covering events to writing feature stories to handling the editing of sports. Person will have experience covering a beat, have strong enterprise skills and the ability to dig for breaking news. In sports lingo, we are looking for an all-around performer who is as adept at editing as he or she is at taking scores over the phone or writing a complex in-depth story. Expect to cover all levels of sports, from little league to professional, but high school athletics are our priority. Ideal candidate will have newspaper experience and strong clips. Working closely with the sports editor, the reporter will also be expected to develop stories that rise above day-to-day overage. A fluency in social media and digital news platforms are musts.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
