Power BI Analyst at Balchem in Middletown, NY
POSITION
Summary:
As a Power BI Analyst at Balchem you will help develop and maintain BI tools supporting both Finance and the broader organizational functions across the company. Your main duty as a Power BI Analyst is to convert data into meaningful insights through interactive and easy-to-understand dashboards and reports. You will be responsible for Power BI development and administration, building data models and transforming data for Business Intelligence. You will also manage reports and dashboards through distribution of workspaces/apps and monitoring usage/data refreshes/security access. This role requires strong business analytics and the ability to collaborate directly with various teams to improve processes and enhance reporting capabilities in an ever-changing business environment. Strong technical skills combined with business acumen is mandatory in order to translate business requirements into sound BI solutions. The ideal candidate is a problem solver who offers solutions. The individual will need to manage multiple priorities and keep stakeholders informed on progress.
Essential Functions:
Work with various stakeholders across the organization to create dashboards and interactive visual reports using Power BI Build reports that allow content and distribution to encompass total organization and drilldowns to specific entities as needed Maintain functionality and relevance of reports and problem solve as issues arise Design, publish and maintain Power BI data models with many interrelated tables connected Ensure report output is aligned with company data governance processes Stay up to date around relevant reporting tools and help implement relevant tools where required Link Power BI with relevant systems such as Microsoft D365 ERP system for efficient and automated report generation Help translate business requirements into Power BI reporting requirements Work with users and team members at all levels to elevate existing reports and reporting capabilities and report distribution Develop reports in PowerBI REQUIREMENTS:
Expert understanding of Power BI Be able to write and execute DAX measures, queries and functions in Power BI Ability to work very collaboratively in a team environment Be able to manage your time efficiently and work with little supervision 3
years designing and developing reports and dashboards in Power BI Strong SQL skills (complex queries on relational databases, stored procedures, automation) Strong Excel skills (experience migrating data from Excel to Power BI strongly preferred) Understand business requirements in BI context and convert data into meaningful insights Understanding of the theory of visual design Understanding of the testing and validation process of PowerBI reports Preferred Requirements:
Redefine and make technical/strategic changes to enhance existing Business Intelligence systems Design, develop and deploy business intelligence solutions as per needs
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
